CODE OF CONDUCT

All students, parents, staff members and guests have the right to be safe and to feel safe in their school community.  With this right comes the responsibility to contribute to a positive, Christ-centred school climate.  Our school code of conduct reflects our Catholic virtues, specifically the Cardinal Virtues:  Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance.  Students, parents, staff members and visitors are expected to respect our school mission and values, and to speak and act in ways that contribute to a positive, Christ-centred environment.  This is the best environment in which students can learn and grow and be all that God is calling them to be.

As part of the Code of Conduct, our staff members support a whole-school approach to progressive discipline.  Our goal is to build upon strategies that promote positive behaviour and to address inappropriate behaviour.  The components of the progressive discipline continuum include, but are not limited to:

· Behaviour Management plans
· Verbal or non-verbal messages from a teacher or adult in authority
· Class meetings
· Written reflection activities/incident forms
· Teacher collaboration with parent/guardian
· Referral to principal

All staff, in dealing with incidents of student misbehavior, will act in accordance with the progressive discipline continuum and its range of responses. Staff will consider mitigating factors including, but not limited to:

· Behaviour Management plans
· Verbal or non-verbal messages from a teacher or adult in authority
· Class meetings
· Written reflection activities/incident forms
· Teacher collaboration with parent/guardian
· Referral to principal
