Cooperative Education (Co-op) is an exceptional experiential learning opportunity that allows students to “test drive” a potential career while still in high school. Through Co-op, students can earn 1 to 4 credits per placement, with the opportunity to accumulate up to 8 Cooperative Education credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students gain hands-on, real-world experience in a career pathway they may pursue at university, college, apprenticeship, or directly in the workforce. By learning in an authentic workplace setting, students develop transferable skills, build confidence, and gain valuable on-the-job training that often strengthens their passion and direction for future career goals. Cooperative Education is available to Grade 11 and 12 students, including summer placements and after-hours Co-op, providing flexible options to meet student needs while fostering strong connections between education, employers, and the community.
