At the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board, we believe that strong relationships between home, school, and our Catholic school system are essential to supporting the success and well-being of every student.
Our Student and Family Support Office provides families with an additional place to seek information, support, or assistance when they have a question or concern that has not been resolved through the regular school-level process.
“When parents feel connected and informed, they are more likely to be actively involved in their child’s learning.”
— Ministry of Education, Policy/Program Memorandum 170
“The Board believes that when parents feel connected, informed, and welcomed, they are more likely to be actively involved in their child’s learning.”
— Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board, Policy P 2.1.16
These principles guide the work of our Student and Family Support Office and reflect our commitment to respectful, responsive, and collaborative relationships with families.
Working Together at the Right Level
The Student and Family Support Office is not intended to circumvent or replace communication with your child's school. In most situations, the people closest to your child are in the best position to answer questions and work collaboratively with you toward a solution.
Our goal is always to address questions and concerns at the lowest appropriate level. Families are encouraged to begin with their child's teacher or appropriate staff member and, when necessary, the school Principal. If a matter cannot be resolved at the school level, additional support is available through Board administration and the Student and Family Support Office.
Our Board policy describes the Office as an additional avenue of support that strengthens existing communication pathways while maintaining the responsibility of schools to address concerns locally.
